As you know, platters are one of my favorite party essentials: ready in five, absolutely delicious and really entertaining. Cheese-y or Meat-y it’s often a top choice when you have people at home!
Here are some tips from a French girl -who loves to easy and tasty appetizers with friends- to create the most epic Charcuterie Platter:
Cured sausages
Each French will have a Saucisson on his board. It’s a very classic but acclaimed option! If you’re going for hot, pick up some Chorizo or Sopressata.
Pâté or/and Rillettes
To add some texture to your meat assortment (which is very important!) add a Pâté or a Rillettes . These creamy & flavorful spreads are a must-have on your platter. Simply spread on bread and enjoy!
Cured meats
Try Coppa or Jamon Serrano. If you want to go fancy (just saying!), Jamon Bellota is to me the best ham ever made!
Something spicy
To cut through the richness of the meat, go with bright and acidic flavors. You can’t go wrong with a grainy Dijon mustard. Or go with the crunchiness of the Cornichon, a French favorite. These small French pickles, slightly spicy and marinated in an aromatic blend, are just perfect to pair with the smoothness of the spreadable meat preparation.
Something jammy
If you like the sweet & savory mix, you should have a jam or a spreadable chutney somewhere on your Charcuterie Platter. I usually love a -not too sweet- fig jam, but my favorite is clearly the Onion Confit that comes from Les Cévennes, near my birthplace.
Something bready
Last but not least, one of the most important one of any Charcuterie platter. Because meat without carbs and bread is an absolute no go! From a French Baguette to crunchy toasts or seedy crackers you have plenty of choice.
