“When life gives you lemons, make lemonade“. Everyone has ever heard this proverbial phrase, but have you ever prepared homemade Lemonade? This simple yet super refreshing drink is super easy to make and absolutely necessary to sip on a sunny afternoon! Today I want to introduce you the French version: la Limonade (yes, lemonade with an i!). It’s a sparkling honey-sweetened lemonade that is just the perfect thing for picnics and barbecues. As a child, my mother used to make a whole batch of Limonade for me and my brothers to go through hot days. Because yes, Alsace is in the north of France, but I assure you it can get super hot over there! Here is her secret recipe to make the best French Lemonade you’ve ever tasted.

Cooking Time: 5 min
Ingredients for 1 pitcher
3 tbsp Lavender Honey
1 little bottle of sparkling water
15oz still water
Optional: some mint leaves
Add gin or vodka for a yummy, refreshing cocktail.
- Squeeze the lemons.
- Boil the still water. Stop the heat, add the lemon juice and the Lavender Honey. Mix until honey is dissolved.
- Pour in the pitcher (the pitcher must be half filled). Keep in the fridge for 20 min.
- Once cold, add the sparkling water.
- Optional: add some mint leaves for a colorful and tasty drink!
